Representative Fisher sponsored the “Continuing Instruction Contingency Planning” legislation that was passed in ASM 13-3-4 on 3/22/2023. Read the press release here. This policy idea will empower teaching staff to plan for situations that require remote learning, and most importantly, give them the authority to invoke said plans on their discretion.
Representative Shia Fisher helped develop the Racial Equity and Inclusion Initiative in his term as a Student Senator at Madison College. This historic initiative is still running today since former Senator Fisher Chaired it in 2020.
In the same term, Shia helped codify an academic policy that would, “force faculty to ‘respond to student inquiries as promptly as possible, preferably within 24 hours, but certainly within 48-72 hours,’ and ‘assess and post grades within 7 days. . .'”
